Line-up

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet style of previous albums and was a more ferocious, consistent effort with a harder edge than Hydra. The more experimental sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the development of the group. Bobby Kimball's growing proficiency was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's work was more precise, sharper, and less derivative than on previous performances.

After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live show that was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set titled Falling In Between. The group released a new studio album a few months later and embarked on a world tour to help promote the album.
