WoW Upgrades - The item upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the item level upgrade. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade item their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
