WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrading by +3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with higher variance due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

upgrade item costs differ based on the slot of the item level upgrade and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

Crests

The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
